General Questions

Getting Started with Marine Inspection

Absolutely! We offer many languages including English, Spanish, Portuguese, French, Russian, Dutch, Chinese, Japanese, and many more to support global maritime operations.

Yes. Marine Inspection is cloud-based and available anywhere in the world. The mobile app also works fully offline at sea and syncs automatically when a connection is available, so remote operations are never a limitation.

A CMMS is software that centralizes all maintenance operations — equipment registries, work orders, preventive maintenance schedules, spare parts and service histories. For vessels, it means every engine, pump and safety system is tracked digitally, with automated reminders replacing paper logs and spreadsheets.

A work order is a digital record of a maintenance task — what needs doing, on which equipment, by whom, and by when. In Marine Inspection, work orders carry priorities, photos, labor hours, parts used and costs, and they can be created manually or generated automatically when PM tasks come due.

Preventive maintenance catches wear before it becomes failure — reducing breakdowns at sea, extending equipment life, lowering repair costs and keeping vessels compliant with class and flag state requirements. Operators using our PM scheduling typically cut emergency repairs dramatically.

Yes. The platform scales from a single pleasure craft or workboat up to multi-vessel commercial fleets. Smaller operators use the same inspection checklists, maintenance schedules and digital logs — just sized to their vessel.

Subscription & Pricing

Plans, Trials & Billing

We offer monthly and annual subscriptions with plans sized to your fleet — from single-vessel operators to enterprise fleets. Every plan includes the mobile app, web dashboard and core inspection and maintenance features. See our pricing page for details.

Pricing depends on the number of vessels and the plan you choose. Visit the pricing page for current plans, or contact us for a custom quote for larger fleets.

Yes — you can try Marine Inspection free before committing, and we'll happily walk you through the platform in a live demo. Book one anytime via the "Book a Free Demo" button.

Annual billing comes at a discount over monthly, and multi-vessel fleets qualify for volume pricing. Contact our team for fleet-specific rates.

Yes, you can cancel at any time — no long-term lock-in. Your access continues until the end of the current billing period, and you can export all of your data before you go.

User Management

Accounts, Roles & Teams

Yes. Create accounts for crew, officers, engineers, inspectors and shore staff — each with their own login, role and permissions. Everyone works from the same live data.

Typical roles include administrator, fleet manager, captain/master, engineer, technician, inspector and read-only viewer. Each role controls what the user can see and do across the platform.

Yes — access is role-based and can be scoped per vessel and per module, so a technician sees their work orders while managers see fleet-wide dashboards. Sensitive data stays restricted to the roles that need it.

Administrators manage users from the settings panel — invite new users by email, assign their role and vessels, and deactivate accounts instantly when someone leaves. Deactivated users' history stays in the audit trail.

Yes — shared work orders with assignments and notifications, photo and note attachments, real-time sync between ship and shore, and comment threads on tasks keep everyone coordinated across watches and locations.

Use the "Forgot password" link on the login screen to receive a reset email. Administrators can also trigger a password reset for any user from the user management panel.

Vessel & Equipment Management

Assets, History & Tracking

An asset is anything you maintain — a vessel, main engine, generator, pump, crane, life raft or any other piece of equipment. Each asset has its own record with specifications, schedules, documents and complete service history.

Add assets one at a time from the dashboard, or bring your whole fleet in at once with the bulk Excel import. Each asset takes its name, type, location and service intervals — and it's immediately ready for inspections and work orders.

Yes. Alongside the standard fields you can add custom fields for serial numbers, model details, class notations, warranty dates or anything else your operation tracks.

Every inspection, work order and service is logged automatically against the asset — with dates, technicians, photos, parts used and costs. The full searchable history is available per asset, per system and per vessel.

Yes — attach manuals, certificates, drawings, survey reports and photos directly to any asset. Documents are stored securely in the cloud and accessible from the mobile app, including offline.

Vessel positions can be captured from the mobile app's GPS during log entries and inspections, giving you a live map view of your fleet alongside each vessel's operational status.

Yes — one-click reports cover maintenance summaries, equipment performance, costs and compliance, with KPI dashboards for fleet-wide trends. Export to PDF, Excel or CSV with your company branding. See the Reports page for the full picture.

Data & Security

Your Data, Protected

Data is encrypted in transit and at rest, hosted on secure cloud infrastructure with bank-level security. Role-based access control ensures users only ever see what their role allows.

Yes — bulk import assets, parts inventories and maintenance schedules from Excel or CSV. Our team can assist with migration from spreadsheets or a previous maintenance system so you keep your history.

Yes, at any time. Reports, logs, histories and registries export to PDF, Excel and CSV. Your data is always yours — including if you ever decide to leave.

Yes — build reports from customizable templates with your own branding, choose the data ranges and vessels to include, and schedule automatic generation and distribution to stakeholders.

Yes. Automatic cloud backups run continuously with redundant storage, so your inspection records, maintenance histories and certificates are protected against loss.

Yes — permissions are role-based and can be scoped per vessel and per module. Combined with the full audit trail of who changed what and when, you always know your data is in the right hands.
